Kissing Cousins

I recently heard that the Girl Scouts had cautioned against parents encouraging their children to show gratitude for gifts by hugging or kissing relatives during holiday visits because this might condition the children to believe (when adult) that being taken out to dinner obligated them to have intimate relations with the person providing dinner. Whether or not that theory has any merit is besides the point for traditional Catholics because the traditional view is that such intimate physical contact (hugging and kissing) with cousins, uncles, and aunts is inappropriate.  Here is a very interesting and informative piece on the subject.

Hello Marie-Jacqueline! Happy Octave of the Epiphany!
Yes, the Girl Scouts have been "woke" for some time now. Unfortunately most well-meaning parents have no idea what this organization is up to.
Off topic- have you posted some of the arrangements you have made for the traditional altar?
Regards, Gretha
P.S. Happy to report the TLM is growing and going strong here in NorCal!

Hi Gretha, Nice to hear from you. No, I haven't posted any pictures. I haven't been personally involved in church flowers since before I started this blog more than ten years ago. Over the years, I've made some efforts to have readers submit their own pictures to post but no one submitted any. I would be delighted if you would be the first to do so! Let me know if you are interested. Maybe we can figure out some way to do that without compromising anonymity. Glad your TLM is doing well!!

I would be delighted to share photos! Let me know if you have any ideas on how to go about it. Your website has been an inspiration and it seems there is little online to encourage people in this important apostolate! Pax Christi!

Hi Gretha, I'm so happy you are willing to submit photos. Given the current social climate, I think it's prudent to maintain anonymity as much as possible. I see that you set up a Blogger profile, so here is one possibility: You could set up your own blog (with a focus on church flowers or whatever theme you find most interesting), then I could both copy your photo to this blog and provide a link to your blog. That would help you get your own readership as well as present your images to more visitors via this blog. What do you think?

This is a great idea! I will work on setting it up and get back to you. I have been doing some vestment work as well so this could be a good way to share that.

Terrific! I'm looking forward to seeing both your flower arrangements and your vestment work. Your TLM is very blessed to have you!

Hi Marie-Jacqueline! This is Gretha (my patron saint is Gemma so I have switched user names). Did you purchase a domain name or do you use the free Blogger only? There is a learning curve with this as I have never blogged.

I think it is up. Would love your feedback! Now that I am doing this I will try and get better photos.

Hi Gretha/ Gemma, I just visited your blog by going through your profile page although the blog didn't come up on a Google search. Your flowers/ altar are beautiful! I am sorry I didn't find your question about domain earlier. Yes I just use a free blog. I've forgotten a lot about the process of getting set up but I do know that you need to look into what is called "indexing" because that is the avenue to showing up in search engine results. I will be posting your photo later today. I am so happy you went ahead with this!
