Victory Gardens

Given the news stories of tomatoes rotting in fields, millions of chickens being slaughtered without making it to market, pigs being euthanized, packing plants closing, and egg shortages, it's time to think about growing and raising one's own food.  How about starting a victory garden such as most Americans had during World War II?  We are at war again. A query via double-duck or other search engine will yield many articles about World War II victory gardens and how-to articles for doing the same thing now.

And what about a chicken coop for your backyard? During World War II, my family had a victory garden and also raised chickens in the backyard. Time to do so again, if possible.  Today the local authorities might object to a chicken coop but it is unlikely they would object to a garden.
