Baptism of Desire

Dante, in his epic poem, The Divine Comedy, places characters in Paradise who have not been baptized. One might therefore ask, “Can someone who has not received the sacrament of baptism in the Roman Catholic Church be saved?”

Fr. Anthony Cekada presents a traditional view at Quidlibet here.

MJ - Check out: Paradiso, The Illuminations to Dante's Divine Comedy by Giovanni di Paolo, published in 1993. Such beautiful illustrations made me buy the book in the 90's! Your inspirational blog is really exceptional.

Ruthie, Thank you for your visit and your kind comment about the blog. I will follow up your suggestion about the di Paolo book. It sounds like something I'd like very much.
