Thinking about the general rule that there should be no altar flowers during Advent because it is a penitential season, leads to thoughts of greenery (which is permitted during Advent). It is not too much of a leap from that to remembering Marianne Stokes' lovely Madonna of the Fir Tree. Enjoy!
