The first white flower listed as suitable for church decoration in Arranging Flowers for the Sanctuary is Amaryllis. It is a flowering bulb that is not actually a lily although often referred to as such. Amaryllis blooms would be especially appropriate for Marian feast days and for St. Joseph because St. Joseph is also identified with the lily due to his purity.
